What Is The Weekly About?

The Weekly is a new documentary TV series from The New York Times, bringing unparalleled journalism to the screen.The Weekly brings the unparalleled journalism of The New York Times to the screen for the first time. Each episode features a Times journalist investigating one of the most pressing issues of the day. With more than 1,550 journalists scattered across 160 countries, the Times produces 2,500 stories a week – investigative reports, political scoops, cultural dispatches. And each week, The Weekly chooses to tell one of these stories in a visual and unforgettable way.

The Weekly, which premiered on FX in June 2019, won an Overseas Press Club award for its story on two American bicyclists killed by ISIS in central Asia. Its reporting on how a predatory lending scheme had corrupted the taxi industry in New York and elsewhere was part of a body of work that was awarded the Pulitzer Prize.

Over the course of 30 episodes, reporters, producers and directors for The Weekly brought viewers on-the-ground reporting from across the U.S. and the world, including Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Estonia, Israel, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Romania, Tajikistan and Ukraine.

The last episode of the series was released on March 20, 2020 in the US.
